Florida Man Breaks Guinness World Record; Bowls Nine Strikes in 60 Seconds

.
Chad McLean may not be on the PBA Tour, covered by ESPN in the coming months, but he is making a name for himself in bowling history. Last week, the Florida native recently set a Guinness Book of World Records achievement by knocking down 9 separate strikes in just one minute. The record was previously held by Colin Champion, who set the bar at eight in sixty seconds at the Kegel Bowling Training Center in West Florida. This time, the record was broken at AMF Alley Katz Corner in Gainesville, Florida.

However, McLean isn’t a stranger to breaking world records. In 2011, he and partner Gene Dalusio set the Guinness record for Highest Pinfall in Tenpin in 24 hours; the duo knocked down 27,499 in that time. As well as bowling feats, McLean has organized the world’s largest single game of dodgeball.

McLean, a 28yr old USBC Bronze certified coach and APEX Pro Shop owner in Gainesville, Florida, already has 10 perfect games in his career. Despite not being on any professional circuits, he now seems to have found a lane to legacy in the sport of bowling,

“This is my thing,” McLean told The Gainesville Sun. “I will do something to leave my mark on the sport.”

Some of McLean’s other accomplishments, according to stormbowling.com, include:

  • 1st – 2011 Greater Gainesville City Tournament – Scratch Doubles
  • 2nd – 2011 Greater Gainesville City Tournament – Scratch All-Events
  • 1st – 2011 Katz Scratch Fever Sweeper
  • 2nd place finish at the 2005 Augusta Turtles Tournament – Augusta, GA
  • 1st place (Team Event) Georgia State Youth Tournament – 2002
  • 1st place (All Events) Georgia State Youth Tournament – 2000
  • 1st place (Singles) Georgia State Youth Tournament – 2000
  • 1st place at the 1999 Georgia State Youth Masters – Newnan, GA
