PWBA accepting applications for host centers, unveiled new logo

The Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour will officially relaunch next summer and is already underway accepting applications for host centers as well as unveiling their new official logo. It’s been more than a decade since the last PWBA Tour and it will kick off with a nine-event tour and an updated image. With a three-year financial commitment from the USBC and BPAA, the PWBA will have guaranteed operations support and prize funds.

We want to ensure bowling centers throughout the country have the opportunity to host a PWBA event,” BPAA Executive Director Frank DeSocio said. “We have received many inquiries from centers and it will be important to identify centers that will partner with us and provide a great experience for PWBA competitors and fans.

Potential host centers will have a very specific list of requirements to apply, which includes:

  • A minimum of 24-lanes (32 lanes is preferred)
  • Real-time online scoring system with sufficient wireless internet connectivity
  • Live stream broadcast capabilities
  • Good standing BPAA member
  • USBC certified

USBC Director of Digital Media, Jason Thomas, has been named the PWBA Director of Operations. Thomas, who was directly involved with the redevelopment of the 2000 PBA Tour after it was purchased by three ex-Microsoft executives will spearhead the development of the new PWBA, including taking the lead on site selections and overall production of the PWBA Tour and its individual events.

Jason was brought in to handle our digital media platforms but his background makes him the ideal person to direct the re-launch of the PWBA Tour,” USBC Executive Director Chad Murphy said. “He knows what it takes to deliver a product that will be beneficial to the centers, the competitors and the fans.
