BALLARDS TO BE HONORED WITH BBIA INDUSTRY SERVICE AWARD

Del Ballard and Carolyn Dorin-Ballard have been selected to receive the 2022 Billiard and Bowling Institute of America Industry Service Award, an honor bestowed on those who promote the growth of the bowling and/or billiard industries worldwide.

“This tandem has earned a multitude of accomplishments both on and off the lanes for decades,” said BBIA President Andy Brenneman. “They share their wealth of knowledge and expertise with thousands of current and prospective competitive bowlers through their various coaching and event appearances, and their nonprofit organization, Ballard vs. the Big ‘C’ — Striking Back to Spare More Lives, has raised awareness and more than $500,000 in donations to help fight cancer.”

Del Ballard has 13 PBA titles and is a member of the PBA and USBC Halls of Fame. Carolyn-Dorin Ballard has 20 pro titles, was named Bowler of the Decade for the 2000s by Bowlers Journal International and is a member of the USBC and PWBA Halls of Fame.

“Del and I are humbled to receive such a great honor, especially to be joining such an elite list of prior winners,” CDB said. “And because of the generous people who comprise the industry, we were able to leverage the fun and excitement of bowling into a fundraiser that has provided funding to people in need who battle cancer. We share this award with our Bowling vs. the Big ‘C’ team and the supporters of the event.”

The Ballards will receive the award during the closing dinner of the 2022 BBIA Convention, which is scheduled for May 1-3 in Cancun, Mexico. Tickets for the event are available through BBIA Executive Director Bill Supper.

It also was announced that the BBIA has extended its partnership with the International Bowling Media Association to continue as title sponsors of the Chuck Pezzano Media Scholarship. The agreement is for four years, the same duration as the prior commitment, and awards $5,000 annually to an aspiring bowling journalist.
