For the second consecutive year, Bowling Center Management swept the awards in the Business category of the International Bowling Media Association Writing competition.
In her first story for the magazine, Michelle Johnson captured the first-place prize for her feature on an alert bowling center employee who prevented a toddler from wandering into the center’s pinsetting machines, thus averting a potential disaster. The story appeared in BCM’s November 2022 “Karma Issue.”
Johnny Campos nabbed the second-place prize for his BPAA Bowling Summit preview story on the Savannah Bananas baseball team. “A Business Vision That Has A(peel)” appeared in the December issue.
Barry Sparks earned honorable mention for his story on the challenges associated with designing and equipping a successful bowling center kitchen operation (September).
BCM Editor Bob Johnson collected three awards, including first place and third place in the Editorial division for columns on how the bowling family steps up in times of need (January) and the prospects for a successful post-COVID climate (February). An honorable mention in the Feature division on the 2022 Daroll and Dolores Frewing Scholarship recipient (August) upped Johnson’s lifetime award total to 85, more than any other writer.
