BURGLARS TARGET VIDEO GAMING MACHINES AT ILLINOIS CENTERS

Even as two men were sentenced to eight years in prison earlier this month after pleading guilty to charges of burglarizing video gaming machines at small businesses in Illinois, bowling centers in the state were being targeted by other burglars.

In a five-day period, seven centers were broken into after hours and had money stolen from their video gaming machines.

Illinois State BPA President Tom Doud urged center owners to do everything they could to make it as difficult as possible for the thieves to target additional centers, including leaving on interior lights, keeping parking lot lights on throughout the night and making sure security cameras are working properly.

“Personally, I reached out to our local police department and gaming company to notify them that bowling centers are being targeted,” Doud said in a message to ISBPA members.
