August is the month for Iowa Bowling Proprietors Association members to join the association’s Grand Prix Program if they are not current Grand Prix members.
There are eight regional tournaments that have $1,000 in scholarship money added to each prize fund, and a state finals tournament (for which youth bowlers qualify via a regional) that has $2,000 added.
Youth bowlers in USBC leagues in Iowa have this special benefit strictly at Iowa BPA-member centers, and the program is free to proprietors.
Adding the scholarship money increased participation in the tournaments last season by 60%.
Bowlers also participate in a fundraiser and receive an annual letter reminding them how much money is in their scholarship account, as long as they continue to participate in youth leagues and the Grand Prix. The letter serves as a timely reminder to get re-registered for leagues and Grand Prix.
