OKLAHOMA BPA AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO CENTER STAFFERS

In an effort to help member centers with employee retention in today’s challenging labor market, the Oklahoma BPA recently allocated funds for an employee scholarship program, open to all center employees.

The Bowling University staff at the International Bowling Campus served as the selection committee for the inaugural program, which was funded by the association’s unassigned SMART savings. Three $1,500 scholarship winners and three $1,000 scholarship winners were selected.

The $1,500 recipients:

• Eva Valadez, Sooner Bowling Center — Valadez has been part of the Sooner Bowl team for five years. She is currently a junior at OU and pursuing a degree in Sociology and Nonprofit Management. She has a heart for giving and has chosen to dedicate her life to nonprofits in her community.

• Nathan Lee, Southwestern Lanes — Lee has been part of the Southwestern Lanes team for four years and is currently a senior in high school, where he has been recognized by the National Honor Society for the last three years.

• Jayden Bingham, Route 66 Bowl — Bingham has been part of the team at Route 66 Bowl for two and a half years and is currently pursuing a degree in Nursing.

The $1,000 recipients were Brock Vasquez, Carter Sewell and Corban Crawford, all of whom work at Sooner Bowling Center.
