When Bowlero Corporation purchased the Lucky Strike portfolio of bowling “eatertainment” centers last year, there was conjecture whether the Lucky Strike name would survive.
The company provided a clue in early December when it opened a new 40-lane center in Moorpark, California — bearing the Lucky Strike name.
The project had been announced a year earlier before the acquisition. The venue is housed in a building once occupied by a Dick’s Sporting Goods store at The Village at Moorpark shopping center.
The center includes the usual array of Bowlero components, including a sports bar and a large arcade. It’s located about a mile from the long-time location of Conejo Village Bowl, a highly successful center that closed its doors in 1995 when its owner sold out to the Borders bookstore chain. Today, that building houses an urgent-care facility.
