Patrick Brettingen has been named editor of Pro Shop Operator magazine, the official publication of the International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructors Association.
He succeeds Bob Johnson, who will continue in his role as editor of Bowling Center Management magazine.
“I’m thrilled that Pat has accepted this position,” said Johnson, a USBC and PBA hall of famer who took over as PSO editor when the magazine was acquired by the BPAA from Luby Publishing Inc. “PSO will now get more attention — and from a guy who has actually drilled bowling balls.”
Brettingen worked at a suburban Twin Cities (Minnesota) pro shop (Star Bowling & Golf) from 1985 to 1990, where he created layouts and fit and drilled balls for beginners to high-average competitors. He also worked at two Twin Cities bowling centers during his high school and college years.
On the lanes, he has won collegiate, local association and state association titles and has rolled nine certified 300 games.
Brettingen a USBC Level 1 coach, worked for Bowling Headquarters and the United States Bowling Congress in Greendale, Wisconsin, as a publications coordinator and communications/public relations professional from 1997 to 2008. He currently is program manager for the Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin, administering key BCAW programs from the grass roots through state levels, and will continue in that role.
He will begin his new duties with PSO, which is published four times per year, with the next issue (June).
