The inaugural International Bowling Media Association Visual Media Awards, comprising works published during the 2023 calendar year, have been announced, and BCM’s Michelle Johnson earned the award for still photography in news feature/documentary accompaniment.
The winning photo is shown on the August issue’s Up Front page, depicting Andrew Amore, the inaugural recipient of the Daroll and Dolores Frewing Scholarship, proposing to Kaylee Hauck on the approach at the 2023 Xtravaganza event in Reno.
“Photography has always been a hobby of mine and I love the assignments I get to do for BCM when the schedule works out,” Johnson, who volunteers her time, said.
The IBMA also presented awards for livestream tournament coverage, news feature/documentary video and still photography/artistic, and the recipients were Jef Goodger (3), Chad McLean (2), Robert Johnson and Kevin Hong.
