BARTHOLOMY, BROOKS, COX, TYRNEY HONORED AT SW SHOW

Andy Bartholomy, Jamie Brooks and Stefan Cox stepped into the spotlight as major award winners at the 19th Southwest Bowling Proprietors Trade Show, held at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center in Denton, Texas.

Bartholomy, who received the prestigious C.C. Bearden Jr. Award, stepped up to serve as Southwest Regional Director in 2022. Now the operator of 10 centers — five traditional and five FECs — Bartholomy purchased his first center, a 12-laner in Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of 24.

Brooks, who served as Texas BCA president from 1981 to 1983 and BPAA president from 1984 to 1986, and was inducted into the BPAA Hall of Fame in 2004, received the inaugural Texas BCA Hall of Fame Award named in his honor. Still active as a proprietor, Brooks turned 90 this year.

Cox was selected by Scott Holmes to receive the Texas BCA President’s Award. Cox has made many contributions to the association, including helping to market the Southwest show, working on the association website and developing a list of educational topics that would benefit the membership.

Also at the show, Lee Tyrney of Tangi Lanes was presented with the Louisiana BPA’s Proprietor of the Year award. Tyrney has been in the business for 36 years — 30 of them at Tangi Lanes. He also is a past president of Louisiana BPA.

Forty centers from Texas, Oklahoma. Louisiana and Arkansas were represented at the well-attended show.
