THE MOST-VIEWED BOWLING SHOT IN HISTORY

Although official numbers were still being tabulated at deadline time, preliminary figures show that Super Bowl LIX was viewed in 37.1 million U.S. households.

That makes Donna Adamek’s delivery, shown on a vintage television set 30 seconds into the YouTubeTV commercial, the most viewed bowling shot in television history.

“Good story for the grandkids!” Adamek enthused on her Facebook page not long after the spot aired.

The commercial illustrated how fans through the ages have faced their own sets of sports-viewing challenges, whether they’re taken out by a stray flail in the Roman colosseum or have their view blocked by a wayward flag at the medieval jousting tournament. YouTubeTV solves that problem by enabling viewers to watch up to four sporting events at once.

“I’m trying to figure out the exact year — late ’80s for sure — but that clip was definitely from Sam’s Town,” Adamek told BCM. “A lady messaged me last year about giving permission to use it, and all it took was a yes and a signature.”

And what did Adamek get paid for her signature?

“About the same as I got for winning some pro tournaments,” the PWBA and USBC Hall of Fame member chuckled.
