It will be a “Big Bowling Weekend” Aug. 9-10 as Go Bowling celebrates the sport by being featured on both a nationally televised morning show and in a major sporting event on consecutive days.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 9, as bowling will once again be featured on the “FOX & Friends” show to help celebrate National Bowling Day. As it has each year since 2018, Go Bowling will have the sport featured throughout the four-hour telecast (6-10 a.m. Eastern).
“The ‘Big Bowling Weekend’ provides the perfect platform for those who love bowling to help raise awareness for the sport,” said BPAA President Tyler Herreman. “These events provide a great way to bring consumers to the lanes and celebrate the passion of the 67 million-plus people who go bowling every year to reunite and have fun with their friends and families.”
The weekend wraps up on Aug. 10 with the Go Bowling at The Glen NASCAR Cup Series race, which will be televised live on USA Network by NBC Sports. Michael McDowell, a former Daytona 500 champion, will be driving the #71 Go Bowling Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Spire Motorsports in the race at Watkins Glen International.
Additional information:
• “FOX & Friends” — Go Bowling will have Herreman on hand to roll out the first ball on the regulation pair of bowling lanes that will be installed on FOX Square, just outside the FOX News Studio in Manhattan. PBA star and Go Bowling Brand Ambassador Kyle Troup will provide coaching to the “FOX & Friends” hosts, two of whom are new since last year’s broadcast. Nancy Schenk, Bowlers to Veterans Link chairperson, will make an on-air donation to a designated military charity. “FOX & Friends” is the top-rated cable news morning program. Go Bowling’s National Bowling Day appearance each year helps build top-of-mind awareness for bowling.
• Go Bowling at The Glen — Over the three-day race weekend, the Go Bowling Fan Activation Tent will be set up in the Watkins Glen Fan Midway, where two custom-built regulation bowling lanes will be installed, offering everyone attending the race the opportunity to bowl for free. PBA and USBC Hall of Famer Norm Duke and youth bowler and social-media sensation Malia Briggs will be in attendance as Go Bowling ambassadors. Duke and Briggs, both Storm staffers, will engage fans and make exhibition appearances in the Go Bowling Fan Activation Tent. McDowell, the 2021 Daytona 500 winner and two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, along with other to-be-named NASCAR celebrities, also will make appearances at tent to meet and interact with fans.
Go Bowling supports these initiatives with numerous local promotions and programs that drive families and friends to their local bowling centers, generating top-of-mind awareness for bowling and elevating excitement for the sport. To join in Go Bowling’s mission, visit GoBowling.com.
