American Bowling Congress/United States Bowling Congress Hall of Famer Wayne Zahn died Aug. 20 at the age of 84.
Zahn was the youngest competitor to be enshrined in the hall of fame at the time of his induction, earning his spot in the Superior Performance category at just 39 years old in 1980.
Originally from Milwaukee, he won 13 national titles on the Professional Bowlers Association Tour between 1963 and 1976 and was inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame in 1981.
Like many star bowlers of his era, Zahn became a bowling proprietor once his touring days were over. He operated the 24-lane Zahn’s Tempe Bowl in Tempe, Arizona, where he was known for mentoring bowlers seeking to improve.
