After more than six decades in business, TechCity Bowl in Kirkland, Wash., will close permanently on Oct. 2. The family that has owned and operated the business since the 1950s is in the process of selling the property to a developer.
TechCity Bowl opened in the late 1950s as Totem Bowl, decorated inside and out with mid-century Native American caricatures. That décor went away 25 years ago when deemed politically incorrect, and the center’s rebranding reflects the presence of Microsoft and other tech companies on the city’s east side.
