Two of bowling’s most history-steeped tournaments, the USBC Masters and the USBC Queens, will be contested in venues with storied histories of their own in 2023.
The Masters has been scheduled for March 26-April 2 at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Mich., while the Queens will be contested at Sam’s Town Bowling Center in Las Vegas.
Thunderbowl has hosted some of bowling’s most historic moments. The first PBA World Series of Bowling was held there in 2009, and the most recent major at the venue was the 2019 PBA World Championship. Thunderbowl’s arena also was home to Detroit’s franchise in the short-lived National Bowling League.
Sam’s Town has shared a long history with the Professional Women’s Bowling Association (formerly the Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour), which included serving as the LPBT’s presenting sponsor for several years and as the host of the Sam’s Town Invitational (also known as the Sam’s Town National Pro-Am) for 15 consecutive seasons beginning in 1986.
The 2023 USBC Women’s Championships will be taking place across town at the South Point Bowling Plaza inside of the South Point Hotel and Casino from April 23-July 2.
