BCSC MOVES TO MANAGED STATES PROGRAM

The Bowling Centers of Southern California has moved its management to the BPAA’s managed states program, effective Jan. 1, with Bart Burger serving as executive director during the transition.

In his final weekly executive director’s email to members, Gary Forman noted that he had been a part of the association in various capacities for 29 years, describing that time as “memorable.” He added that while he’s retiring as BCSC’s E.D., he’ll still be popping up at industry events as he continues to serve on the Orange County Bowling Association’s board and as Fountain Bowl’s representative for BCSC.

Forman received BPAA’s V.A. Wapensky Award in 2014, and in 2016 was honored with BCM’s first and only “Clutter Award” for having the most cluttered bowling center office in the United States.

BCSC is scheduled to kick off the new year by conducting the finals of the BCSC Junior Shootout at Cal Bowl in Lakewood. When the association was known as the Bowling Proprietors Association of Southern California, it was an early adapter of the Grand Prix Scholarship Program and had more than $100,000 from that entity to disburse through SMART scholarships.
