HOW BETTS AND ALLEN FARED AT THE U.S. OPEN

The BPAA awarded Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts an exemption into the main field at the 2023 U.S. Open, which was contested at Royal Pin Woodland (formerly Woodland Bowl) in Indianapolis, Jan. 29-Feb. 5.

Country music star Jimmie Allen participated in the event’s pre-tournament qualifier after being forced to decline his exemption in order to perform at the Grammy Awards telecast on Feb. 1.

Betts was in 61st place (tied with Jason Belmonte) after the first round of qualifying, dropped to 106th after the second round, and ultimately finished 98th.

Allen said that his goals in the PTQ were to have fun and not finish last, and he was successful on both counts.
