After two years of planning, procuring permits, COVID-19 delays and construction challenges, Spare Time Texas has opened its four-acre outdoor expansion.
Branded Shaker’s Backyard, it features go-karts, batting cages, SkyTrail and SkyTykes ropes courses, sand volleyball courts, a covered pavilion for events and gatherings, and a full-service restaurant called Shaker’s Smokehaus.
Owner Mike Emmons acted as the general contractor for the project, as he did for both bowling-anchored Spare Time Texas indoor FECs.
The food-and-beverage menu is extensive, featuring local craft beers, unique cocktails, smoke-enhanced appetizers, sandwiches and entrees, all served inside the restaurant and outside under one of several covered patio areas.
Complimentary yard games are spread throughout Shaker’s Backyard, further enhancing the social atmosphere.
Notes managing partner Rick Heim: “Our entire outdoor area is well lit, so guests can enjoy all the amenities even after the sun goes down.”
