Matt Orvis, Joel Everts and Mike Myers were selected for the 2026 BCA of Wisconsin Awards of Excellence. The annual awards recognize proprietors, managers, volunteers and others who have made lasting impacts on the sport across Wisconsin.
Orvis was recognized in the “More Than 12 Lanes” proprietor category, while Everts and Myers earned BCAW Special Awards of Excellence.
The honorees were recognized during the 2026 BCAW Awards of Excellence Luncheon on June 8 at the Central Wisconsin Convention + Expo Center in Rothschild. Profiles of the honorees:
• Matt Orvis — The co-owner of The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley (Green Bay) and Dream Lanes (Madison) with his brother, Ryan, was recognized for his leadership and impact on bowling in Wisconsin. Since entering ownership in 2017, Orvis has helped transform The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley, a 60-lane center, into one of Wisconsin’s premier tournament destinations, having hosted the USBC Masters, PWBA Tour stops, the USBC Queens and collegiate championships. Orvis also played a leading role in bringing the 2025 USBC Junior Gold Championships to northeastern Wisconsin, a collaborative effort involving eight BCAW centers and community partners. He has served on the Greater Green Bay USBC Association board since 2018, contributing to tournament, finance and youth committees while also serving as the current youth committee chair. He also serves on the national USBC Youth Advisory Group, coaches Green Bay Southwest High School in the BCAW high school program and helped organize the BCAW middle school bowling program in the Green Bay area. “Being nominated and honored by my fellow proprietors is really amazing, but I do not do these things for the recognition,” said Orvis, a BCAW board member. “I do it to give back. I love bowling and greatly appreciate the opportunities that God has given me.”
• Joel Everts — The sports manager for Discover Green Bay was honored for his sustained efforts in helping bring major bowling events to northeastern Wisconsin. During more than 22 years with the tourism organization, Everts has worked with the 2025 USBC Junior Gold Championships, PWBA Tour events, the USBC Queens and numerous BCAW and Wisconsin State USBC tournaments. “Hosting events in our community showcases not only our premier bowling facilities but also the hospitality our entire state extends to visitors,” Everts said. Matt Orvis nominated Everts for the award. “No event is too big or too small for Joel and his team at Discover Green Bay,” Orvis said. “Having someone like Joel as an ambassador to our sport and for our centers makes hosting the events all that much easier.”
• Mike Myers — A resident of Monroe, Myers was recognized for years of volunteer service supporting BCAW middle school and high school bowling programs. He has volunteered at state tournaments for approximately a decade, assisting with lane monitoring, scorekeeping and event operations. “My heart is in lane monitoring,” Myers said. “I love the overwhelming joy in seeing kids succeed.” Myers previously served as youth league director at Leisure Lanes in Monroe and coached the Monroe High School boys’/coed bowling team to a Division 2 BCAW state championship in 2017. Erik Gialdella, a BCAW past president, praised Myers’ commitment to youth bowling: “Mike’s passion for the sport burns hot and he is always willing to step into a volunteer role and fill long hours in a bowling center to make sure events for our youth run smoothly.”
