‘BOWLING’S BROKER,’ SANDY HANSELL, DIES

The man known as “bowling’s broker” for much of his life, Sandy Hansell, passed away on Jan. 13. He was 89.

The founder of Sandy Hansell & Associates helped facilitate the sale of hundreds of bowling centers over the course of his career, and also provided valuation services, help with succession planning and other business services.

For more than a decade, he wrote a business-focused column for Bowlers Journal International called “The Hansell Report,” and later was persuaded by Bowling Industry founding editor Bob Johnson to lend his expertise to that magazine’s readers.

Following his retirement, he volunteered as a docent at the Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan, to which donations may be made in his memory.
