Peter Murray, CEO of the Professional Bowlers Association, described 2026 as “a breakout year” for the PBA and predicted that 2027 would be even better.
Speaking at International Bowl Expo in Nashville, Murray said the PBA had 50 hours of live programming this year, “and next year we intend to increase that by 50 percent.” He pointed to the 10-week package on The CW as noteworthy because it “doubled our (ratings) numbers versus Fox Sports 1,” adding that next year The CW has committed to 12-plus telecasts.
Murray also pointed to social platform and digital media growth, saying “that’s how fans consume sports today.” He noted that half of the 2026 Tour’s 14 champions are first-time winners and of those seven, four were rookies.
“That’s balance,” he said. “The game is healthy, and the next generation of bowlers is bringing a whole new energy to the sport.”
Added Murray: “You have my commitment that we not only want to grow the PBA, but to grow the game.”
